The Trustee Directors would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Matthew Clancy for his commitment and dedication as the inaugural chair of Mercy Community Services Australia Ltd (MCSAL). He has committed significant time and energy to the task of building a strong foundation and governance framework for MCSAL. Due to the competing time pressure from his primary business obligations, Matthew advised what was a difficult decision for him, that he will need to step away from the role. He has kindly agreed to remain in the Chair position until a new Chair is appointed before the end of the year.
His commitment to Mercy extended back further than this most recent role. He was director of Mercy Connect from 2017 before becoming Chair of that ministry in 2020. He has a strong passion for community services and over many years has made a valuable contribution to supporting Mercy ministries, so they continue to flourish into the future. He is and has always been a strong advocate for the work undertaken by MCSAL and its ministries in providing services to the most vulnerable in our community.
We thank Matthew for his Mercy leadership. On many occasions he has shared his favourite Catherine McAuley quote, which he exemplified in his leadership – “ Try to meet all with peace and ease”.
We wish Matthew all the best with his future endeavours and look forward in the New Year to formally thanking him for his dedication and commitment to Mercy over many years.
